The weekend before Thanksgiving, Bob and Hank flew on Uncle Sean’s plane with Jacob to Bimini, Bahamas. Now this is no big deal for Uncle Sean, Aunt Amanda, and Hank’s cousins Mason & Jacob — they go practically every weekend. What jet-setters! BUT, for Hank (and even Bob) it was a HUGE deal.
Hank has flown in the past, but it was when he was an infant… so flying in an airplane is something he has been wanting to do ever since he got into the TV series Super Wings.
Ellie Mae and I stayed home. Just Uncle Sean, Jacob, Bob, and Hank… a one day, one night affair.
I really cannot detail what the trip was like since I wasn’t there, but I can tell you this:
When Hank arrived home, I had him take a shower. While he was taking his shower he said to me, “Mommy, I am very happy!” <– I almost cried out of joy when I heard this. For me, as a mother, what I want most for Hank and Ellie Mae is for them to be happy, enjoying life as much as they possibly can.
Hank was pretty nervous on the flight to the Bahamas. According to Bob, he was slightly better on the flight back. Although he was scared during it, Hank made a point of telling me that “flying wasn’t scary at all and would like to go on Sean’s plane again.” You definitely can tell from the photos Bob took that Hank was nervous though. I think it is more the noise than anything. Hank hates it when Bob is using the drill, table saw, & circular saw.
Cousin Jake was the sweetest, nicest, bestest (not a word, I know) friend to Hank on the trip. He was holding Hank’s hand and showing him all around. Hank and Jake talked a lot, laughed a lot, played a lot! It makes me so happy to know that Hank and Jake hit it off with each other and that they will be buddies for life.
Apparently Jake taught Hank some new, killer dance moves – Hank was showing them off the night he came home.
Bob says that Hank was a total ANGEL the weekend and didn’t cry once. He was a good listener and obedient too. Our theory is that he always had someone’s attention (either Bob’s, Jake’s, or Uncle Sean’s).
